Don't forget to bring your death certificate...

Been a while since I posted. Sorry about that. Been busy doing nothing (and by nothing I mean talking on Skype, watching TV, shopping too much and going to Disneyland. Best nothing I can think of)

But anyway, I've got some updates on Disney news!

Update #1:
It seems I have found myself some roommates! 4 other girls and I have decided to try to wrangle ourselves the same apartment so we can have girly, Disney, goofy fun from August to January. I'm rather excited. My actual roommate seems to be a replica of me...right down to the height. I'm hoping we can sing duets for youtube videos and exchange disney trivia all year.

Update #2:
Received an email from housing telling me I need to decide how I'm going to pay. Slight problem...already paid in full for housing. Even got it on my credit card statement. So I'm currently trying to deal with that so they don't try to charge me twice or worse, kick me out!

Update #3:
The Fall Advantage program has begun! I'm using my facebook stalking skills to decipher some tips about what the program is actually like...found one guy who is a Jungle Cruise Skipper, so there is still hope that my dream will come true. I wonder if I can call them and tell them what a brilliant actress/comedian I am...maybe that will convince them. :)

Update #4:
That's really it. Disney is getting into the summer season which means the park is filling up, and my pass is about to be no good. How will I survive just over a month with no Disney? Must go next week to get my fix. Disneyland is a drug.

Only 76 days until I move in. Can't wait!!!

Hang on to your hats and glasses - cuz this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness!!!

Right now I should be writing a research paper on the rhetoric and ideologies of FDR. It's due in just over 24 hours and I haven't really even started. I mean, that's not really a new trend for me - I usually write papers the day before. And I have done some research, so I think I should be ready to start writing the actual paper in an hour or so.

But I just can't find the motivation. I graduate in just over a week, and this is one of the last assignments I have left. I have to give a speech, write this paper, and take my final. And then basta. No more college. Ok that's a lie...I have to write a large paper this summer to complete my requirements, but I just can't seem to bring myself to acknowledge that yet. I desperately want to be a part of the graduation hype, and as long as I still have work to do this summer, I can't!

I don't really know what to do about the whole classes aspect of the CP. I feel like there are definitely some interesting things I could learn from them, but the idea of taking more classes and having homework again after I've been so looking forward to being done makes me feel sick to my stomach. I've never been a big fan of school....how could I possibly go back when I've just finished?

I guess it's just something I'll have to figure out once August rolls around.

Non Disney Related Post

These last few days I've been planning a trip with my family to Florida in order to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Universal Orlando is actually offering a really great package deal that offers hotel accommodations, park tickets, a meal at the three broomsticks, a city walk pass, transportation, and best of all, early entrance to the park every day! Because the park will only have been open for about 2 months at that point, I have a feeling the early admission will be essential so I don't have to wait 3 hours in line for every ride.

Here is the link: http://www.universalorlando.com/Florida_Vacation_Packages/bf/harrypotter.aspx?ComponentId=13187&SourcePageId=7805#5

I've also been hearing a lot of great things about the park. This is a review I read on the food: http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/45398045.html#cutid1

All in all, I think it's going to be a simply magical experience and I can't wait!

Of course we'll be stopping at Disneyworld while we're there (we have vacation club points to spare...so why not?) and I just know I won't be able to get away without participating in the American Idol experience again.

So now I have three wonderful things to look forward to in August! Fiona's wedding, Harry Potter World, and DCP. Can the months go faster please?

Shift yer cargo dearie...show 'em yer larboard side

I figured it was time to update even though I don't really have anything new to report. I'm still MONTHS away from my arrival date of August 18th, and it's positively killing me. I have to go to Disneyland on a weekly basis now to satisfy my Disney cravings. I've been chatting with some fellow CPers on facebook - it's nice to be able to relate to other people that are just as obsessed and excited as I am.

I still haven't attempted to call my recruiter to specifically request Jungle or Storybook Land....I'm not sure if it would even make a difference. My mom is convinced that they put me in attractions instead of guest relations because they want me in a "performance" role, but I'm not so sure. I never really mentioned my theatre background - plus I would expect that they would think a performer would be great at guest relations because you're used to faking being happy. Well anyway, no sense in questioning it or trying to figure out the reasoning. God put me in attractions for a reason, and it's silly for me to try to question or control his will.

I heard about something called "Disney chorus" which sounds right up my alley. I'm going to have to look more into it, but anything that involves performance and Disney and I'm sold.

I'll update again when I have actual news to report - but it could be a while. :)

To all who come to this happy place - welcome

It's 2:40am, and coming off of a week of driving, exploring, and playing hard, I should be fast asleep. But it eludes me, because I am far too excited for August 18th, 2010 - the day when my dream finally comes true and I become a cast member for the Disneyland Resort.

This day has been a long time coming. Forget my love of Disneyland as a child. Let's start with freshman year of college. I heard about this crazy thing called the Disney college program. Now as a Disney-phile, I of course had to learn all about it immediately. I did some online research, watched the e-presentation, and was about 2 seconds away from applying for WDW right there and then. My mom talked me out of it because I still had a lot going on at school. Not only would going to Disney for a semester put me behind in school, but I would also miss the fall musical and my planned semester overseas in Florence. So I put the dream off. Sophomore year was busy with traveling and rehearsing, and so the college program stayed on the back burner. Come junior year I was starting to feel antsy, so I came up with a plan that had me doing the WDW college program first semester of my senior year and finishing up school the next fall. But it just didn't make sense - if I had so little school left, why shouldn't I finish it?

So that brings us to the this spring. With graduation looming and no real plans for the future, it was finally the perfect time to apply for the college program. For the past four years I had planned on aiming for the program in Florida, but this fall I realized I would be better suited in Anaheim. Not only do I know the park and like it better, but I also would rather stay in California than be stuck in Florida for the next few years.

Once January hit, I applied for the program as soon as I possibly could. I got my application in and interview done by January 26th, and then it was a matter of playing the waiting game. Which was TORTURE (as I'm sure anybody still waiting to hear knows. have faith - it'll come soon!) I marked guest relations, attractions and photopass as my top choices. Guest relations was definitely number 1 - I go to the park every other week, so I'm very familiar with everything it has to offer. I also read a lot of books on Disneyland - cast member experiences, random trivia facts, pretty much anything I can get my hands on. My ultimate goal is to be a tour guide, so I figured guest relations would be the best place to start. Unfortunately, I wasn't given my top choice, but I was accepted into the program as an attractions hostess!

Now I've got my fingers crossed that they put me on jungle cruise or storybook land. As a lifetime performer I know that I would have much more fun on a ride where I get to interact with guests as a character acting out a script. Plus, I already have the majority of the jungle spiel memorized. :) "And now for the 8th wonder of the world....the backside of water! Here at the jungle cruise we like to call it O2H" I know I'll be happy wherever they put me though - I mean I'm working at Disneyland. Plus it's all about the networking I can do while I'm there. I'm finally on the first rung of the ladder...now all I have to do is climb.

To everyone else who will be joining me this fall - I can't wait to meet you and hear your stories! I'm so curious about what brought people to Disneyland, and more specifically, this program. What are your dreams? And to everyone still waiting to hear - have faith! Disney won't let you down

And now I must try to sleep because I have a long day ahead of me. I hope to have sweet dreams of being a cast member, because in a few short months those dreams will be a reality
